What happened to May? The month flew by, and here it is, the start of June already. I enjoyed a terrific visit from my sister last month, started a new job, and continued to work on the poetry manuscript I began during my residency at Soapstone earlier this year.
Here is my poetry news for June…
- I’m reading with Sage Cohen and Samantha Waltz on June 19th from 5:30 to 7pm at my alma mater Willamette University as part of Maureen Clifford’s Third Thursday Poets Series. Maureen is a fabulous hostess, and I’m really looking forward to the evening. Join us if you can!
- The OSPA Spring Conference in April in Salem, Oregon was a great success, and plans are already underway for the Fall conference in Roseburg. OSPA members, check your mailboxes for the June newsletter…it should be arriving soon!
- Gertrude Press is busy planning our participation in Portland Pride, as well as a big gala summer fundraiser. We’ll also announce the winners of the chapbook contest soon. More details on that to come.
- Finally, I am super SUPER excited to be facilitating my first ever Write Around Portland workshop this summer. If you don’t already know about Write Around Portland, check ‘em out: http://www.writearound.org/. This is an organization I completely, whole-heartedly believe in and support.
Wishing you much poetry happiness,
Elizabeth
