November 2008

I’m a full-time student again! This fall I entered the Masters of Applied Theology program at Marylhurst University. This is a challenging and exciting time for me. I’m lucky to be with an incredible cohort of 12 other people who are caring, supportive, and in interesting places on their own journeys.

I’ve scaled back some of my writing commitments, most notably my involvement with the Oregon State Poetry Association. I’m still a member, but no longer editing the newsletter. My writing is still very important in my life. News to report includes:

  • VoiceCatcher just released their 3rd anthology! I’m honored to be part of this collection of writing by Portland-area women writers.

  • Gertrude Press announces the opening of our 3rd annual Chapbook contest. Each chapbook just gets better and better! And we’ve seen some of our authors go on to publish full-length collections.

  • I read at QLiterati, the monthly reading series at Q Center, on November 12th. Despite the dismal dreary weather, we had a positive, uplifting reading with some other amazing authors. Thanks to Jacob & Diane!

  • I continue to be blessed with the word-weaving and considered-critique of the 29th Street Writers.

Here’s hoping that your holidays are safe and happy! More writing news to come…

Elizabeth
