Whew! What a spring. We’ve moved into our new house in the Parkrose neighborhood of NE Portland. I am wrapping up my first year of studies in the MAAT program at Marylhurst, and starting a practicum with SisterSpirit planning a women’s spirituality conference for this November.
Gertrude Press is thriving! We just mailed issue 13, and the newest chapbook, Mixing Tracks, by Jan Steckel is now available. We’ll be announcing winners from the 2009 chapbook contest soon. We received our first grant, from Standard Insurance Company, and will be holding a fantastic art show this fall. All donations to Gertrude are now tax-deductible. All the news at http://www.gertrudepress.org.
The 29th Street Writers are on our usual summer hiatus. We will be planning a fall or winter reading for later this year. How grateful I am to be in such good company with such fine writers.
Truthfully, I’ve been turning out few poems lately. Writing for school has been all-consuming! I’ve also been going outside/over/beneath/through words to drawings, art, and comics. I’ll be using my summertime to post a few of those online.
Blessings to all and much love,
Elizabeth
